I thoroughly enjoyed my summer courses -- Psychology of Women with Dr. Danielle Dickens and Dance Perspectives & Process with Dr. Julie Johnson. As a student and learner, taking classes over the summer gave me ample time to enjoy and do further research into the material, especially since these courses were outside the requirements for my major. Since I had individualized attention on the two subjects, it ignited my desire for interdisciplinary work between my major and these courses.

Types of Online Courses: Synchronous Learning vs. Asynchronous Learning

Synchronous Learning and Asynchronous Learning refer to the type of online experience -- although they have their differences, both refer to time.

Synchronous Learning - The class take place at a specified time, and all students must be online at that time in order to participate.

Asynchronous Learning - Allows students to take courses on their own schedule. Course materials may be accessed at any time, but students may be given a time frame in which work must be completed.

Hybrid Learning - A mixture of both asynchronous and synchronous learning.
