Bill Pay
Even though your donation to Spelman College is not a “bill,” you can still set it up to have your bank send recurring gifts to the College.
Please follow the directions on your bank’s website to set up a new bill or payee. If given a choice, choose to pay a company rather than a person. In the space for “company name,” enter: Spelman College. In the space for “company address,” enter: 350 Spelman Lane SW, Box 1303, Atlanta, GA 30314. In the space for “company phone number,” enter: 1-866-512-1690. In the space for “account number,” enter your 900# if that is available or your first initial and your last name (and class year, if alumna); for example: Jane Doe, C’81 would enter JDOE1981.
After you have set up Spelman College as a biller, it is added to your list of bills or payees and you can select it at any time and enter a payment amount and a payment date. You have the option of setting up automatic or recurring payments on a monthly basis. Bill pay is usually a free service of your checking account. Spelman College is not charged any fees for receiving a donation through your bank’s bill-pay service, so what you donate goes 100% to funding our program.
Deferred Gifts
The College will accept deferred gifts, including gifts of life insurance and bequests made through donors’ wills. Bequest intentions serve as a lasting testament to your dedication to investing in the education of future generations of young women who uphold our tradition of excellence. Donors who designate Spelman as a beneficiary in their estate plans are welcomed as members of the Guardian Society.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Sometimes more valuable than outright gifts, these contributions give you an immediate tax deduction and do not incur capital gains. The sale of these transferred securities enables Spelman to support needed initiatives. Instructions for Giving Securities
Gifts of Real Property
When you deed you home/vacation home, undeveloped property, or commercial building to Spelman, these gifts also give you an immediate tax deduction and do not incur capital gains. Spelman may either use your property for the College or sell it and apply the proceeds to achieve its strategic goals.
If you are interested in these and other ways to give, contact Institutional Advancement at 1-866-512-1690.
